Jace Peterson

Can play: 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, LF, CF, RF

2017 MLB stats: 89 games, .215/.318/.317, nine doubles, two triples, two home runs, 17 RBI (w/ Atlanta Braves)

2017 AAA stats: 34 games, .258/.374/.359, five doubles, one triple, two home runs, 26 RBI (w/ Gwinnett Braves)

The only player on our list to not play in the Yankees system last season, Peterson recently signed a minor league contract with an invitation to Spring Training. He spent last season between the Atlanta Braves and their Triple-A affiliate, the Gwinnett Braves.

Peterson isn’t the best option for either job based on his hitting stats, which definitely don’t jump off the page, but just like Wade, he is very versatile in the field and has an outstanding glove.

If he doesn’t win a starting spot, he could compete with players like Clint Frazier, Billy McKinney, and Tyler Austin, as well as any of the so-called “losers” of the starter sweepstakes, to join Austin Romine and Jacoby Ellsbury on the bench.
