Ronald Torreyes

Can play: 2B, 3B, SS

2017 MLB stats: 108 games, .292/.314/.375, 15 doubles, one triple, three home runs, 36 RBI

54 games at second base, 36 at shortstop, and 26 at third base last season for the Yankees obviously puts Torreyes as the first, and most obvious, candidate for either position.

Torreyes’s versatility in the field is very helpful. During the injury-plagued 2017 season, shortstop Didi Gregorius was out the month of April following the World Baseball Classic and second baseman Starlin Castro only had a 112-game season due to his injuries. “Toe” filled in admirably for both middle infielders.

Torreyes is the ideal candidate for either starting infield job due to his two outstanding years in pinstripes, both at the plate and in the field.
