Settling the Yankees roster competitions if the season started today

As good as the New York Yankees roster is, they have position battles upcoming at second base and third base. Who’s in the competition and who will win?

The New York Yankees, as of right now, have most of their roster settled going into the 2018 season. However, there are some areas where competition is necessary before Opening Day.

Following the loss of All-Star Starlin Castro to the Miami Marlins in the Giancarlo Stanton trade, second base clearly presents an open opportunity for someone to step up and command the position in spring training.

Corner infielder Chase Headley was shipped back out to San Diego, where he started his career, and the guy who replaced him at the hot corner, New Jersey native Todd Frazier, is also a free agent.

Finally, designated hitter Matt Holliday also became a free agent at the end of this past season, but that spot has already been filled by the rotation of the Yankees two inhuman right fielders, Stanton and Aaron Judge.

There are many different players who are capable of playing second base and third base this season and for now, the candidates internally are all young and have the potential for stardom.

Some of them were in the MLB or made their MLB debut this past season, while the others are highly-touted prospects trying to make an impact. The candidates are as follows:
