As low as things may be for the New York Islanders right now, they are well represented in the NHL All-Star Game.

The New York Islanders have a pair of 2018 All-Stars! John Tavares and Josh Bailey have been selected to the NHL All-Star Game!

For the Islanders captain, it is his fifth career appearance. Josh Bailey is making his first-ever appearance.

The forwards will represent the Metropolitan Division in the 3-on-3, three-game tournament.

The Islanders duo both currently sit pretty in the NHL scoring picture, both in the top 10.

JT sits sixth in the league in scoring with 51 points on the season thus far.

His fellow linesman Josh Bailey sits eighth in the NHL with 50 points.

Tavares is an All-Star stalwart and makes it what feels like every year.

As far as Bailey, he is having a career year for the New York Islanders.

Matt Barzal has a case to be selected but is only a rookie. He has plenty more chances to make the team in the future.

Also, Anders Lee is an elite goal scorer and he missed out on the roster too. However, he is not nearly on the same level as his other fellow Islanders.

The All-Star Game is a star-studded weekend with the skills competition taking place the night before the game.

It should be really fun to see how well Bailey and Tavares play together in this game. It’s always high scoring and fun to watch.

As for Islanders fans, it’s a nice change of pace to see someone other than just Tavares in the game.

The last Islander besides Tavares to be an All-Star was Jaroslav Halak in 2015.

Seeing Josh Bailey out there is a good thing. Hopefully, the duo has plenty more All-Star appearances to come as members of the New York Islanders.

The NHL All-Star Game takes place on Jan. 28 in Tampa, Florida.
