They Can Fix It

This one goes hand in hand with slide number two. Just because they sign Cousins it doesn’t mean they are done at the position. Remember how I mentioned earlier that the signing relies on no loss of draft capital? That means the Jets will hang onto their draft picks and select a quarterback anyway. They might as well. Based on their current predicament it’s the right thing to do.

It has happened before. Remember Seattle? They signed Matt Flynn to a long-term deal worth mega bucks. They also drafted this guy, maybe you have heard of him. His name is Russell Wilson. He beat out the mega contract based on the performance on the field. So it is still possible to put another scenario in place in addition to Cousins. They will likely be in good position to take a player like Baker Mayfield, for example.

The bottom line is that the Jets become a viable team the minute they sign Kirk Cousins. He makes them better with a snap of the fingers. They have the need for him, and they have the means to go out and get him. They still have the means to bring him competition and/or an alternative if it doesn’t work out. It’s a no-brainer.
