New York Mets: Five best center fielders in franchise history
1. Tommie Agee
Here is your number one, my friends. Tommie Agee came to the Mets in 1968 from the White Sox that also brought infielder Al Weis to town. After getting hit in the head by Bob Gibson in spring training, Agee had a rough year in 1968, only hitting .217. 1969 was the year for the Mets, as we all know. He started off hot and had a strong season batting .271 with 26 home runs and 76 RBI.
Agee cements himself at number one with this performance in game three of the World Series:
In 1969 Tommie Agee proved that when it was time to play he could, and did, get the job done. He continued to get the job done in 1970, hitting for a career high .286 batting average and 182 hits. Agee also notched his first and only Gold Glove of his career in 1970. He spent two more years in New York before ending his career with Houston and St. Louis.

To be honest, Agee and Mookie were 1 and 1A, with Agee getting the slight edge on the great game in the World Series. But the fact is that the Mets have had a lot of talented players at the position over the years. Did I miss your favorite? Let me know.
