5. Lenny Dykstra

Yes he did have his share of legal trouble while with the Mets. When he was on the field playing center, his potentially great showed when he played 149 career games. Lenny gave the Mets the ability to sit Mookie Wilson at times, and have him play left field in others.

After slowly being worked in during his rookie year of 1985, Dykstra came into his own in 1986, hitting .295 and scoring 77 times, very good numbers for a leadoff hitter. He scored 86 times the following year, cementing his place as a member of this group.

As a fielder, Dykstra was never a Golden Glove winner but he got the job done. His fielding percentage never fell below the mid-98% range. Simply put, he was consistent. Other teams hated him too, know for being scrappy and annoying other teams.

He is very well-deserving of a spot on this list.
