Handing out the New York Jets wings for week number 17.

The final game of the New York Jets schedule has come and gone, and it went exactly as we expected it to. To their credit, the Jets had a lot of fight in them. They did not roll over in this one the way previous iterations of the franchise have. In the end, home field advantage was too much motivation for the Patriots to pass up and they took it to the Jets in the end.

6. 30. Final. 26. 47

There were good enough performances to award wings. Three guys did deserve game balls from the loss so let’s get right to it:

Bryce PettyDon’t mistake this for me saying that Petty had a great game. By no means did that happen. He still has many footwork and accuracy issues. That being said, he looked better against the Patriots. Petty went 19-36 for 232 yards and no interceptions. Better than he had looked although not great.

Neal SterlingWho the heck is this guy anyway? I had no idea that this was Austin Seferian-Jenkins backup. With ASJ inactive, Sterling stepped up big time, posting five catches for a team-high 74 yards. It was nice to see a little bit of depth at the position shining through in the final game.

Next: Kirk is the answer at QB

Jamal AdamsThe rookie put in one more good showing. There were no big games posted by any New England tight ends, though Rob Gronkowski was not active for the contest. Adams posted ten total tackles, three solo. He also nearly posted his first career interception on a diving attempt.
