4. Kerry Rhodes

Most of the talk this year with regards to the previous draft has centered around Jamal Adams and Marcus Maye. It’s no surprise as they were the first two picks the Jets made and they play the same position. It doesn’t hurt that they both have played well, though they probably would have been talked about either way.

Back in 2005, there was a safety that also earned a lot of attention by his play on the field. He, like Fabini, was selected in the fourth round. His name was Kerry Rhodes. He came on the scene and became a day one starter at the safety position. Sound familiar? As a rookie he posted 105 tackles to go along with one interception and seven passes defended. He forced a fumble and posted a sack as well.

Over the next four seasons in Green and White, Rhodes proved to have a nose for the ball, never posting less than two interceptions in a season with a top number of five in 2007. Over his Jets career he posted 15 interceptions, 48 passes defended, six forced fumbles, 13 sacks, five fumble recoveries, nine sacks and 417 total tackles. After determining he didn’t fit with Rex Ryan’s scheme like many of us thought so he was off to Arizona.

But he was still a great value from the fourth round.
