What has been probably the biggest problem for the Jets defense over the years? A rusher coming off of the edge. Do we even remember what that looks like as Jets fans? Vague memories of John Abraham are the best most fans have at this point. That might be the most classic “Same old Jets” element of them all. No matter the era, they have had a problem generating a pass rush.

With only three sacks, Jordan Jenkins hasn’t been the answer to those prayers, but he is improving. Jenkins has shown to be a guy who can set the edge and make a play when called upon. Remember when he was Defensive Player of the Week? That day, Jenkins sacked Tyrod Taylor twice, posted two tackles for a loss and forced one fumble. He showed that if he is paired with another outside force, Jenkins could be quite the player on this defense.

The Jets have work to do this offseason. Let’s not kid ourselves. A season somewhere between 5-11 and 7-9 is by no means a great season. However, we have learned that all is not lost for the Gang Green. There are players on this football team to get excited about. There is a core of young players to build around, and that is exciting. The future does look bright despite someone of what we have seen in 2017.
