Who are the game ball winners for the New York Jets in week 15?

The New York Jets were far more competitive in this game than anyone thought Many thought the game would be an embarrassment for the Jets and their fans. New York was in this game until the very end, even when the Saints opened up a two-score lead late, the Jets had  a chance until the very end. Bryce Petty didn’t play great but they played well enough to be in the game.

19. 30. Final. 31. 15

With that, we can get back to our wing earner series. We took the week off last week after the terrible game in Denver. Therefore, let’s remind everyone what the wing earner series is, in case anyone has forgotten or is a new reader.

More from Empire Writes Back

Each week, except for last week, we pick three Jets who performed well. The three chosen players are awarded game balls, but since they are the Jets we call them wings. Make sense? Let’s get right to this week’s three “Wing Earners”.

BUSTER SKRINE: What a game Buster had, huh? Skrine has been one the most maligned cornerbacks in recent memory and with good reason. He has committed more than his fair share of penalties. But in this one he was all over the field in this one, knocking down one pass, forcing one fumble. He posted five solo tackles as well. A great game out of Buster.

LEONARD WILLIAMS: Williams hasn’t put up the numbers that were expected of him this year but he has played well. He has posted quarterback hits and made some noise that isn’t necessarily noticed on the stat sheet. He had a very active game against the Saints with three solo tackles, two assists and his first career  interception.

Next: Morton should be fired because of his comments

JOSH MCCOWN: For the first time in the series, someone who didn’t play is getting a game ball. Why? McCown earned his wings because he didn’t sit around and watch the game. He decided he wanted to work with the QB coach and still be an active member of the team. It takes a high quality individual to do that and that is what McCown is.
