New York Knicks: Why can’t they win on the road?

Despite a clear inability to win on the road so far, will the New York Knicks be able to win tonight in a technical road game versus the Brooklyn Nets?

Tough question: Why can’t these New York Knicks win on the road?

It’s confusing, especially when you think about the challenging opponents they have beat at home. As a young rebuilding team, they have beat a grand total of one team on the road this season… ironically it was a badly slumping, but still likely Finals bound Cleveland Cavalier team.

Flat out: They have lost to sub-par teams on the road, including OKC, Orlando, the Hawks, a banged up Pacer squad, and the Bulls. So, what gives?

Was the hotel mattress too firm? Something in the water? Or did they have bed bugs?? (That actually happened to Kyrie Irving by the way…)

…or is it the fans? Well, the tip off tonight versus the Nets is the perfect chance to put that theory to test. Technically a road game, the players will have the chance to rest and return to their homes before and after this game that they should be able to win.

But of course, there’s the rub.

In the Garden, it’s well-known there are mostly Knick fans in attendance. Just attend a game and you can feel the loyalty.  After all, who has had to deal with more heart ache than Knick fans in recent times? They might as well stay loyal at this point.

But the Barclay’s Center will be a different story. Although the franchise is struggling for attendance, there will be a much clearer mix of fans in attendance.

However it shakes out, one thing is for sure, a large portion of the fans in attendance tonight will be cynical New Yorkers who love good basketball, and will be loyal to that only.
