New York Jets 2018 NFL mock draft
By Nolan Rich
Fifth Round: Toby Weathersby: OT:LSU
As was said earlier the New York Jets offensive line was woeful in 2017. Staying in the SEC the Jets should look at LSU’s Toby Weathersby. Weathersby was the Tigers left tackle but is a better run blocker and projects to the NFL as a right tackle or guard.
The Jets right tackle position has been a rotating position over the past two seasons so Weathersby could compete for the starting right tackle position. Brandon Shell has shown some skills but competition makes everybody better. Weathersby could come in and fight for the spot and at the very least, make Shell better.
Another place where Weathersby could play is left guard as James Carpenter‘s performance and contract could make him expendable. At the very least Weathersby could be a valuable backup that could play inside or outside on the Jets offensive line. An offensive line can never have too much depth. He would be a valuable piece and a good value selection at this point in the draft.
