New York Jets: Three keys to victory against the Denver Broncos
Make the Quarterback Beat You
Remember how the Jets have been trying to replace Joe Namath since the 1970s? Have you had that conversation enough times yet? Too many times? Well although it has been less time, the Broncos have had that same type of conversation. Other than a couple of years with Peyton Manning, the Broncos have been searching far and wide for the next John Elway. That hasn’t worked out so well.
Right now, that quarterback is Trevor Siemian. Paxton Lynch hasn’t completely taken over yet, so Siemian lingers as the starter. This season, the Broncos are ranked 19th in pass offense. Siemian has thrown 11 touchdowns versus 13 interceptions. On the other hand, lead running back C.J. Anderson has rushed for over four yards per carry and 652 yards on the ground. That’s an effective running game, and the Jets defense has been inconsistent at times in defending the run.

That means that the Jets need to make Siemian win this game. Judging by his play, it doesn’t seem like he can, not this year. Siemian has been giving up the ball far too much. Anderson is a very underrated running back. He can make it big in the game easily. Don’t let him, make sure the game is on the arm of Siemian. Believe it or not, I take McCown in a battle between those two. The Jets really can get to 6-7. Isn’t this league crazy?
