Who earned their wings for the New York Jets against the Kansas City Chiefs?

That’s why they play the games, folks. It’s another unexpected win for the New York Jets this afternoon from MetLife Stadium. A late touchdown by Josh McCown followed by a two-point conversion gave the Jets a 38-31 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs in a wild game from New Jersey on Sunday afternoon. It’s a big day when two receivers go over 100 yards on the day and that is what the Jets had happen.

124. Final. 38. 30. 31

As usual it is time to pass out the game balls. We call them wings and we award three sets each week. So let’s go ahead and see who put in the starring performances this week.

JOSH MCCOWN: It has been a year that nobody expected for the 38-year-old. McCown has been the consistent stabilizing force that this young offense has needed, and that continued on Sunday against the Chiefs. He went over 300 yards passing with 331 on 26-36 passing and a touchdown. He also scored two touchdowns on the day including the game winner.

JORDAN JENKINS: This one goes to Jenkins more for the “eye” test than his stat line per se. He did record one solo sack but Jenkins was also in the quarterback’s face a lot. Ian Eagle called his name quite a few times. Any Jets fan will tell you that it has been forever since the team has had an edge pass rusher that has made an impact. Jordan Jenkins has started to show signs of being this type of player. He needs help around him but the physical traits are there. The ability is there.

Next: ASJ and the catch rule

JERMAINE KEARSE: This one could have gone to Robby Anderson as both of these guys went over 100 yards receiving. Kearse gets the nod for a couple of reasons. The first is that his nine catches went for 157 yards to lead the team. Secondly he converted seven catches for first downs. A player cannot be more clutch than that, and that earns him the spot.
