The New York Islanders head into the month of December after having one of their best November’s in recent memory. The month starts off with a Friday night showdown against the Ottawa Senators.

During the month of December, the New York Islanders will play 15 total games.

The Islanders open the month with a home game Friday night but then hit the road for four straight starting on Dec. 4. This includes a Florida back-to-back in Tampa and Sunrise.

The team ends the month with a trip up to Winnipeg and Colorado.

However, the Isles do have a solid five-game homestand. On Dec. 23 they host the Jets at 1:00 p.m. ET for a matinée game.

In December, the Isles will battle the same team multiple times. They have two dates with the Winnipeg Jets.

December will have the Isles playing these teams for at least a second time this year:

  • Ottawa Senators
  • Tampa Bay Lightning
  • Dallas Stars
  • Columbus Blue Jackets
  • Colorado Avalanche
  • Los Angeles Kings
  • Washington Capitals
  • Anaheim Ducks
  • Buffalo Sabres

The last month of the calendar year will also have the Isles play the following teams for the first time all year:

  • Winnipeg Jets (2x)
  • Florida Panthers
  • Boston Bruins
  • Pittsburgh Penguins
  • Detroit Red Wings

Overall, the Isles December schedule is balanced.

More from Empire Writes Back

They have a road stretch and a home stretch. They have a chunk of division games and a chunk of in-conference games. New York also has a chunk of games against Western Conference opponents.

The Isles have games on back-to-back nights just two separate times all month.

The Islanders will be in Colorado on New Year’s Eve if you’re trying to have a watch party to ring in the New Year.

It’ll be incredibly challenging for the Isles to top the month they had in November.

The Islanders ended November with four straight wins.

However, the Isles seem to be clicking on all cylinders. Every line has contributed.

The change in the calendar shouldn’t change their approach to the games.

It is important the New York Islanders continue to win games this month before a division and in-conference heavy start to 2018 in January.
