Who are the five best third basemen in New York Mets history?

That guy pictured above was part of some significant memories as the New York Mets third baseman. Unfortunately, it all came crashing down after the title in 1986 and he left for Baltimore. However, that wasn’t before having one of his best professional seasons in 1986, hitting .298 to finish his three years with the Mets as a .271 hitter.

Memories? Well, he did score on a certain ground ball during game six of the 1986 World Series. We all know what that is about. If you are going to talk about memories for the Mets, that might be about as good as it gets. With that, we are going to continue our trop down memory lane and talk about the five best third baseman in franchise history.

Your first spoiler alert is that Ray Knight is not on this list. With most of his career spent in Cincinnati, he simply didn’t do it long enough in New York. That is the case quite often going through Mets history at the hot corner. During the early days it was seemingly a revolving door at the position with nobody setting there for a long time. It took a little while to finalize this list.

But it is finally complete, so let’s get going with the countdown.
