The New York Giants have benched Eli Manning, signaling a changing of the guard. Who could be Big Blue’s starting quarterback in 2018?

The New York Giants announced on Tuesday that they would be starting Geno Smith against the Oakland Raiders instead of Eli Manning. Manning had started 210 straight games but that streak, along with Eli’s time as Big Blue’s starting quarterback, has come to an end.

So who will be the Giants starting quarterback in 2018? It certainly won’t be Geno Smith. Please don’t let it be Geno Smith. But who could it be?

There’s a very small chance that Eli Manning is the starter again next year, although it would take some crazy circumstances. Geno Smith and Davis Webb would have to both look absolutely terrible for the rest of this season. Josh Rosen and Sam Darnold would have to both be off the board when the Giants pick third overall. And Eli Manning would have to forgive the Giants for benching him and not ask to be traded to the Jacksonville Jaguars.

In all likelihood, we’ve seen Eli Manning take his last snap as a member of the New York Giants.

Luckily for the Giants, unlike most offseasons, there could actually be a few starting quarterback options in free agency. And another rare occasion, there is believed to be at least two potential franchise quarterbacks available in this year’s NFL Draft.

Money will be tight for the Giants unless they trade Manning’s contract, but there are always ways to create cap space so a free agent quarterback signing is a possibility.

The New York Giants will also most likely be picking in the top three of the 2018 NFL Draft. There are a few needs they could address, namely offensive line and running back, but after moving on from Manning, quarterback has become an immediate need.

So here are the quarterbacks who could be starting for the New York Giants in 2018.
