Run the Football

This one isn’t going to be easy. If it was everyone would be doing it, and nobody has been able to run on the Panthers. Carolina is currently ranked third in the league in run defense, allowing 80.6 yards per game. This just in, that’s a very low number. The yardage is not exactly going to be easy to come by, but it is essential for the Jets to have a chance in this one.

Why is it so important here? Well look at what we talked about on the previous page. Newton is going to make this defense run around a bit. He’s athletic and he is tough to tackle. This game will not be a walk in the park on a Sunday for the Gang Green defense. They need the opportunity to rest via long drives by the offense. If the offense stalls early and often the defense is going to run out of gas and it won’t be pretty.

Wouldn’t this be a great week to turn the running game around? There has been more talk of late about how bad the offensive line has been. Let’s see them turn that into an “us against them” situation and beat a top team at the line of scrimmage. Wouldn’t that just be fun to watch? Nobody expects it anyway. Go get ’em big fellas.
