New York Jets: Five players to be thankful for in 2017
Robby Anderson
The undrafted free agent at wide receiver is an area that the Jets have had some experience with in the past. Some guy named Wayne Chrebet comes to mind. Jets fans have certainly heard of that guy. So Robby Anderson does not get the least bit devalued as an undrafted free agent out of Temple University. It doesn’t hurt that he ran a 4.34 in the forty yard dash on his pro day. In short, he can fly.
This year, Anderson has been coming into his own as a threat that can take the top off of a defense. He is currently averaging 16.2 yards per catch. He is seven receptions off of his career high with 35, 19 yards from his career high, and has set a career mark with five touchdown receptions. He has scored in each of the last four games, showing a growing chemistry with Josh McCown which will only help moving ahead in 2017.
Is Anderson a number one receiver? It’s still hard to say at this point. Whether he is or he isn’t, however, is immaterial. Every offense needs a guy that can stretch the defense. A deep threat opens things up for all of the other potential types of attacks. Robby Anderson is a valuable member of this squad and Jets fans should be thankful for him.
