Josh McCown

Nobody even thought this guy would still be in the lineup by now, much less be someone that we are thankful for. But Jets fans should absolutely be thankful for having Josh McCown on their team in 2017.

The quarterback issue continues on for the Jets. We don’t need to go through it again at nauseum. Jets fans know the problem at quarterback. There is no long-term answer on the roster, that’s the problem. So for the time-being they have to get by. How do they do that? By putting someone under center that can be a stabilizing force. The quarterback needed to be someone that could settle the young players, manage the game with minimal mistakes and teach the younger players.

McCown has been all of that and then some. He has completed nearly 70% of his passes as of the writing of this post. That is almost 10% higher than his career mark. He has also thrown 14 touchdowns versus only eight interceptions. For the most part, McCown has been able to keep the offense moving and keep them in games. There have been exceptions, such as the Buccaneers game. He threw a bad interception that resulted in a loss to the Dolphins in the second matchup. But most of the time McCown has been just what the Jets have needed.

Should McCown be back for another year? That is debatable for another day. However, for 2017 Josh McCown is a player that Jets fans should be thankful for.
