The Giants Will Have a Top-Five Pick in a Year With a Good Quarterback Class

The New York Giants nightmare season will likely result in a top-five pick. Thankfully, the 2018 NFL Draft has one of the better quarterback classes in the last few years.

Josh Rosen, Sam Darnold, Josh Allen, and Baker Mayfield highlight the impressive group of signal-callers.

Eli Manning’s consecutive starts streak won’t last forever and the Giants need to find their next franchise quarterback. Could it be rookie third-round pick Davis Webb? It very well could be.

However, passing on a top quarterback prospect to roll with a third-round pick is risky and ill-advised. Ryan Nassib was thought to be the heir to Eli’s throne and just look at how that worked out.

Even if the Giants don’t want to draft Rosen or Darnold, there will be teams that do and they would likely be willing to trade up to get one of them. The Giants could potentially move back in the draft and accumulate more picks.

Having a top pick with a good quarterback class is beneficial whether you plan on drafting a quarterback or not. Quarterback is the most important position in football and without one, NFL success is basically impossible. Teams will mortgage their draft futures to acquire a potential franchise quarterback.

Thanks to this year’s talented quarterback class, the New York Giants will have the option of drafting their next franchise quarterback, or setting themselves up with future draft picks.
