For 210 Straight Regular Season Starts, We Haven’t Had to Worry About Who’s Under Center

One of the most important aspects of the quarterback position is durability and consistency. Although his play on the field is not always consistent, Eli Manning is consistently in the starting lineup.

His durability has him second all-time for the most consecutive regular season starts. Sunday will mark his 210th straight start.

The record may not seem too significant because fans want on-field results, but just being on the field is extremely valuable.

Just look at what has happened to the Green Bay Packers after Aaron Rodgers went down or the Houston Texans when they lost Deshaun Watson. Having your starting quarterback under center week in and week out is crucial to having a chance at success.

There have been calls for Davis Webb to get some action for the Giants but if Eli Manning were to have gotten hurt earlier in the season, it would have been Geno Smith who got the first shot at starting. I think we all can agree we don’t want that.

So be thankful that the Giants have a quarterback who never misses a start and you’ve never had to worry about a backup quarterback trying to lead the team to victory.
