The 5-4 Buffalo Bills hit the road for a conference matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 11.

The Occasion: Buffalo Bills at Los Angeles Chargers – Week 11

Where: StubHub Center, Carson CA

Petermania

Sean McDermott dropped the most surprising news of the season on Wednesday, announcing that the rookie Nathan Peterman will get the start over Tyrod Taylor.

The move had all of the national sports media outlets talking.

This week will mark Peterman’s first career NFL start.

Sitting at 5-4, just in the last playoff spot, the Bills decided to go with the rookie to carry them the rest of the way.

Peterman was connecting with rookie wideout Zay Jones throughout the preseason.

Kelvin Benjamin is also someone the Bills want to target heavily and they think Peterman’s quick trigger and accuracy will allow him to get more involved.

The Chargers

The Bills’ offensive line play has been lackluster in the last two games. Buffalo’s task this Sunday will not get any easier.

The Chargers defense is stout with their ability to rush the passer.

The dynamic duo of Joey Bosa and Melvin Ingram have 9.5 and 8.5 sacks on the season, respectively.

Los Angeles’ quarterback Philip Rivers spent a majority of the week in the concussion protocol. He is questionable for the game. Kellen Clemens is listed as the QB 2 on the Chargers depth chart and is likely to get the start if Rivers is not cleared.

Injuries

We have already mentioned how the Bills O-Line will be up for a challenge. The injury report shows they will also be without some players.

Left tackle Cordy Glenn has already been ruled out. Guard John Miller has been ruled out as well.

Back up running back/fullback Mike Tolbert is also out with an injury.

The Bills’ mentality of “next man up” is going to be in full force yet again this weekend.

Notes

More from Empire Writes Back

This marks the first of back-to-back road games against AFC West opponents for the Bills.

In the all-time series, the Chargers lead the Bills 23-12-2.

The Bills have not won a road game against the Chargers since 1981.

The Chargers won the last two meetings against the Bills, holding them to just ten points each time.

However, the Bills won a game in LA last year when they played the Rams.

The Chargers come into this game 3-6.

For Sure

There will be more eyes on this game than usual as many football fans will want to watch Peterman’s first start.

Bold Prediction

This game will go into overtime.

Final Thought

Next week, the Buffalo Bills will travel to Kansas City for what seems like a yearly meeting with the Chiefs.
