With Matt Holliday set to hit free agency, the New York Yankees have a void to fill at DH. Who should fill it?

When healthy, Matt Holliday was the designated hitter for the New York Yankees for most of 2017. The 37-year-old is now a free agent and it is unknown whether or not he’ll return to the Bronx.

If he leaves, the Yankees would seemingly have a hole in their lineup. But who should fill it?

A few weeks ago, I ran a poll on Twitter asking fans who should be the New York Yankees’ DH in 2018. The turnout was solid with 59 responses and there were mixed results.

The options were Shohei Otani, Kyle Schwarber, Matt Holliday, and Other. Those who responded other were supposed to comment that “other” player they had in mind but only one fan did.

Not to worry, I have a few “other” ideas of my own and I’ll tell you about them in just a bit.

Let’s break down each poll option as well as a few other potential New York Yankees DHs as free agency will soon be in full swing.
