Jake Arrieta

As big as the hype is surrounding Shohei Otani, until he proves himself in the MLB, he’s a bit of an unknown. Therefore, the Yankees have to go sign a proven arm.

More from New York Yankees

Yu Darvish put up a miserable performance in the World Series this year that should scare the Yankees away. Therefore, New York will back the Brink’s truck up to Jake Arrieta’s house.

Arrieta won the NL Cy Young in 2015 after going 22-6 with a 1.77 ERA. He followed that up by going 18-8 with a 3.10 ERA in 2016 and 14-10 with a 3.53 ERA in 2017.

He’s thrown two no-hitters (one in 2015 and one in 2016) and, unlike Darvish, Arrieta was dominant this postseason with a 0.84 ERA in two starts.

Arrieta has a World Series championship on his resume and could anchor the New York Yankees starting rotation until his arm (which is currently 31 years old) falls off.
