New York Knicks: Keys to a successful rebuild
By Nick Zaccone
Team Chemistry
The way a squad plays with one another is the deciding factor between wins and losses. Throwing together a group of young players and handing them a basketball isn’t going to bring much success. In order for young guys to grow the right way, the roster needs to have a silver lining of veteran players to bring leadership to the locker room.
For the Knicks, Jarrett Jack and Courtney Lee have fit this role perfectly. Jack serves as the starting point guard and runs the offense nicely, allowing the young guys to get most of the looks with his pass-first mentality. Lee aids the team with his reliability on defense and his ability to score.
When each player knows and accepts their role, the locker room is a happy place. It seems that the team trusts head coach Jeff Hornacek, the one who assigns the roles to the players. The New York Knicks have the chemistry that other teams don’t and it’s starting to show in the win column.
