Who are the best players in New York Mets history to wear the number two?

The New York Mets have had an interesting history. They joined the league in 1962 and were immediately beloved despite losing most of their games. They lost 120 games that first season but still drew fans. Likely it had to do with the fact that New York was showing itself as a National League town and this team replaced the New York Giants and Brooklyn Dodgers. Be that as it may, the Mets drew fans right from day one.

The “lovable losers” rewarded their fans with a championship in 1969. Tom Seaver took the town by storm and the Mets went from worst to first. It has been an up and down history ever since, with soaring highs and depressing lows. But for what it’s worth, it has always been interesting to watch this team play. From grand slam singles to watching every pitcher go down with history and everything in between, it has been “colorful”.

So who have been the best players?

On November fourth, we started a series where we name the best players to wear each jersey number. We started with number one, so today we count down the three best players to wear number two. Let’s get to the count down.

Note: This number has very slim pickings.
