A +. . . . Running Backs

More from Empire Writes Back

Against one of the best defensive fronts in the NFL, the Jets running backs had a strong performance rushing for 194 yards on the ground. This is by far the best performance against Buffalo’s defense with as the Bills previous high for rushing yards against their defense was 147 yards by the Atlanta in Week 4.

Matt Forte had a season high 77 yards on 14 carries and found the end zone for the first time this season. With two touchdown runs, Forte also added 19 yards receiving to have 96 total yards from scrimmage.

The running game was truly a three-headed monster and showcased how dominant the running game could be when everything is working. Bilal Powell had the run of the night with a 51 yard dash that put the Jets and Forte in position to score another touchdown. On just nine carries Powell rushed for 74 yards averaging over eight yards per carry.

Elijah McGuire finished second on the team in carries with thirteen and added an additional 30 yards on the ground. A well-rounded attack from all three running backs helped the Jets control the time of possession and wear down the Bills defense.

New York will defiantly want more performances like this out of their backfield.
