Here is the weekly breakdown of each of the New York Jets team units in their 25-20 Week 8 loss to the Atlanta Falcons.

Let’s get right to the grades for the 3-5 New York Jets.

A. . . . Quarterback

Despite the weather Josh McCown showed why he has one of the best completion percentages in the NFL, going 26-of-33 for 257 yards. On the season, McCown now has a completion percentage of 69.2%,  throwing for 10 touchdowns and 7 interceptions.  McCown was brilliant throughout the game despite having very little protection from his offensive line and once again almost zero support from the running game.

McCown had some great throws but more importantly did not turn the ball over all game despite the torrential downpour. McCown drove the Jets into Falcons territory on multiple occasions, however special teams and penalties cost the Jets multiple chances to add to their lead and put the Falcons away.

While many fans will say that McCown had an opportunity for a game wining drive, the fact that the Jets had to go 96 yards in 1:07 with no timeouts was nearly impossible even for the best quarterbacks in the league.

It’s clear that Bryce Petty and Christian Hackenberg are not the long-term answers for the Jets and through half the season McCown has earned the right to finish the season as the Jets quarterback.
