Who on the New York Jets earned their wings in week number eight?

It was another tough loss for the New York Jets, marking their third straight defeat. This time it was at the hands of the Falcons by the score of 25-22. The Jets had the lead for a significant portion of the contest but were not able to close their opponent out. Young teams have to learn how to do that together, and the Jets just aren’t there yet.

However, there were still three performances that stood out for the Jets. Each week, we pass out our wings as you all know. They are our game balls that we give out to the top performers. Let’s get right to the players that earned their wings this week:

ROBBY ANDERSON: This one was a pretty easy choice. Jets fans had been waiting for Anderson to perform like a number one receiver and he finally did so against the Falcons. He caught six passes for a game-high 104 yards and a touchdown. What you didn’t see out of Anderson was dropped passes. His hands were terrific. Add that to his great speed and he really can become a good number one receiver. He sure was against the Falcons.

JOSH MCCOWN: McCown put together another solid performance against Atlanta. He went 26-33 through the air with 257 yards passing and two touchdowns. Frankly, he was about as efficient as he could be expected to be. He had very little help in the ground game. For anyone questioning the call because the offense stalled in the mid-late portion again, remember that he had no help on the ground. When he is forced to beat a team by himself, he is limited. He still almost got it done, but McCown is limited. It doesn’t mean he didn’t perform well this week.

Next: Immediate thoughts on the loss to the Falcons

MUHAMMAD WILKERSON: Welcome back big guy. For how long did we all say that he was taking the big money and running? Too long. In this game, Wilkerson heard our cries. He put up five solo tackles and his first sack of the season. Finally, we heard his name for some other reason besides talking about how bad he has been. He might finally be ready to step up his game.
