New York Yankees: Top 15 Moments of the 2017 Season

14. Aaron Hicks Robs a Grand Slam…Twice
Aaron Hicks struggled offensively in 2016 but he’s always been a great defensive outfielder. Hicks had a career year at the plate in 2017 but didn’t let that affect his glove game.
Hicks is a special defender. He has a good range, speed, and an absolute cannon for an arm. He doesn’t get mentioned with the likes of Kevin Pillar, Kevin Kiermaier, and Byron Buxton but Aaron Hicks can defend with the best of em.
Hicks put that defense on display when he robbed a grand slam this year…twice! The first was against the Los Angeles Angels when he took what would have been a game-tying grand slam away from Luis Valbuena.
If that thievery wasn’t enough, Hicks stole another homer, which can be seen in the video above.
In his first game back from the disabled list, Hicks robbed Wilson Ramos of a grand slam which would have put the Tampa Bay Rays up 4-0 in the top of the first inning. Hicks turned the would-be home run into a sac fly and the New York Yankees would go on to win the game 6-1.
Hicks had a great year on both sides of the ball but robbing two grand slams in one season is something few players can say they’ve done.
