15. Ronald Torreyes Walks Off Against Texas

In the Japanese pitching battle between Masahiro Tanaka and Yu Darvish, the Venezuelan Ronald Torreyes stole the show.

Both pitchers were brilliant and the game entered the ninth inning scoreless. Aroldis Chapman gave up a run in the top of the ninth on a passed ball and Brett Gardner tied it up on a solo shot in the bottom of the inning.

The Yanks weren’t done with the dramatics, however, as Torreyes would pick up his first career walk-off hit with a two-out RBI-single in the bottom of the tenth inning.

Little Ronnie Baseball is a fan and clubhouse favorite and was extremely valuable to the New York Yankees while Didi Gregorius and Starlin Castro missed time with injury in 2017.

Seeing a bench player come up in a big spot is always fun to watch. Ronald Torreyes played a bigger role in the Yankees’ 2017 success than many realize but he got the credit he deserved when he walked the Yankees off against the Texas Rangers.
