6. Aaron Judge Robs Fransisco Lindor of Home Run in ALDS Game 3

If his offensive season wasn’t enough, Aaron Judge showed off his glove in Game 3 of the ALDS.

Fransisco Lindor hit a ball to right field that, honestly, wouldn’t have had a chance to go out in any other stadium, but was headed over the short porch at Yankee Stadium. With the ball destined to make it 2-0, Judge used every inch of his wingspan to reach over and bring the ball back.

The crowd went crazy and MVP chants rained down. Judge had been struggling at the plate, piling up strikeouts, but he didn’t take those issues out onto the field with him.

Judge also robbed Yuli Gurriel of a home run in Game 7 of the ALCS. That grab was perhaps more impressive but the Yankees still lost that game 4-0.

Judge’s home run robbery in the ALDS, however, saved the New York Yankees season. Lindor’s fly ball would have been a two-run homer in a game that the Yankees won 1-0. Had Lindor’s ball gone out and New York lost, their season would have been over as they were already down 0-2 in the best-of-five series.

Aaron Judge’s MVP candidacy goes beyond his impressive home run total. He also played fantastic defense all year long with both his glove and his arm. The New York Yankees would not have made it as far as they did in 2017 without the offensive and defensive contributions from Judge.

Aaron Judge is a special player and he put that on display in Game 3 of the ALDS.
