New York Giants: Ben McAdoo Is Sticking With Eli Manning For Now
At 1-6, the New York Giants are not where they were expected to be at the bye week. Despite the team’s offensive struggles, head coach Ben McAdoo reaffirmed that Eli Manning will remain the starting quarterback going forward.
Despite the New York Giants’ disastrous start to the season, Ben McAdoo is not ready to make a change at quarterback just yet.
On Monday, McAdoo answered questions from reporters during a conference call. He was asked about whether or not he would consider giving rookie backup quarterback Davis Webb playing time. As reported by Paul Schwartz of The New York Post, McAdoo was careful not to answer the question directly.
Before this season began, no one could have imagined that people would be questioning whether or not Eli Manning should remain the starting quarterback. However, considering how badly the Giants offense has played lately, his job is no longer completely secure.

Manning’s stats have not ben awful this season, but he has not exactly had a career year. Through seven games, he has thrown 10 touchdowns and five interceptions. Manning has a 64.2 completion percentage and has thrown for 1,600 yards.
Coming off of that lackluster performance, McAdoo was asked during the conference call about whether or not Manning will remain the Giants starting quarterback after the bye week. Art Stapleton of The Record reported that McAdoo said that Manning is the Giants quarterback.

Even though the Giants season has already spiraled out of control, it is unlikely that Manning will be benched this year. At the end of the day, the 14-year veteran and two-time Super Bowl MVP is still the leader of the Giants. McAdoo is eventually going to want to see what he has in Webb. However, it would probably be wise to let the rookie continue to learn behind Manning this season so as to have a better chance of being ready to start next year.
Coming out of the bye week, the Giants will host the Los Angeles Rams. After getting a vote of confidence from his head coach, Manning will still be under center.
