What Can Be Changed?

More from Empire Writes Back

The first change would be with our head coach, Ben McAdoo. He is a stubborn man who takes too long to make necessary changes. We mentioned the play calling issue on the previous page. Isn’t that reason enough?

There have also been reports that McAdoo has lost the clubhouse, so what is stopping Jerry Reese, John Mara and the Giants from firing McAdoo after a 1-6 start?

If McAdoo does get fired I think the next man up should be Mike Sullivan. Sullivan is the Giants current offensive coordinator and he has been for two years now. Sullivan is a much better play caller than McAdoo is, as we saw last week when he took over the play calling duties and the Giants went on to win their first game of the season.

I’ve been saying this one for a while now, but the second thing that should be changed is Ereck Flowers. At this rate we might as well try a few things so why not throw Chad Wheeler in at left tackle and see how it goes? We have nothing to lose so try it out and go from there, if it works, it works, if not, it doesn’t, but it doesn’t hurt to try.

The final thing that may be worth giving a shot is changing the quarterback. Eli Manning is clearly on a decline as much as we hate to admit it. With or without his receivers this year Manning has been awful, he stays in the pocket too long, and he seems scared to throw the ball unless it’s a guaranteed reception.

This season has turned into an experiment through seven weeks, so why not try out Davis Webb at quarterback and see how it goes?
