. . . Offensive line . D

It wasn’t a pretty day for the buffet busters. When Myles Garrett got a sack on his first career NFL snap, you knew it was going to be a long day in the trenches. The Jets surrendered three sacks to an average at best defensive front and worse ran the ball for a woeful 1.9 yards per carry.

Garrett is a talented defensive lineman, but this effort against this defense has to be worrying for Jets fans. Could you pin the struggles in the running game on the running back injuries? It is a factor, but this line wasn’t opening up any running lanes.

We saw what these backs can do with space last weekend against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Like the running backs, and both are a result of the other, this unit has been hot and cold through the first five games. One week they play well, the next they can’t pass block, and the following the run blocking is dreadful. This game won’t be on any of the Jets offensive linemen’s highlight reels for sure.
