More from Empire Writes Back

They say one man’s trash is another man’s treasure. Austin Seferian-Jenkins did all he could to ruin his NFL career while down in Tampa Bay. He was drafted in the second round of the 2014 NFL draft and never could get out of his own way. He was injured on multiple occasions. Most recently he missed the first two games of the season due to a suspension. He flashed when he was on the field, he just wasn’t on it long enough.

After being released by the Bucs, Seferian-Jenkins took stock of his life and had enough. He decided to get it together. ASJ lost weight and got help for his problem with alcohol. He looks slimmer and he is more focused on the job at hand, and the Jets are reaping the benefits of this new man.

Today he posted a team-high six receptions for 29 yards. Josh McCown hit him with a touchdown pass that me made look easy. At 6-5, he is a guy that will benefit the Jets down the seam and in the red zone. It’s a shame that it didn’t work out in Tampa Bay, but he becomes a treasure for the Jets.
