Here are three takeaways from the New York Jets victory over the Cleveland Browns.

Who would have imagined this turnaround by the New York Jets? Everyone said that they were terrible. Nobody thought they would ever win. Even I only predicted they would win three games all year long. This team believed in itself and the Jets now sit at 3-2 with an upcoming date with the New England Patriots. That 3-2 is good for a tie for the lead in the AFC East! When was the last time that happened? It’s been a while.

Granted, the teams have not been among the league’s elite. The Jaguars, Dolphins and Browns were theoretically winnable, even for this Jets team. But there are no excuses for the teams on the schedule. They have played the teams on the schedule and beaten three of them. Next week, the competition increases starting with the Patriots. But for now we can revel in three straight wins.

Let’s take a look back at the game and see how things went. It was a slow game through the first half. The two teams played to just a 3-0 Jets lead in the first half. It wasn’t until the third quarter and Kevin Hogan entering the game for DeShone Kizer that either team got anything significant done on offense. The Jets were able to survive a late touchdown from Duke Johnson Jr. to win the game 17-14.

There were some takeaways from today’s game that we can talk about. Each week, we are going to go through our three takeaways from each game and take stock of what we now know about the Jets.
