New York Mets: Jacob deGrom no longer “mane” man after cutting hair
By Nolan Rich
New York Mets pitcher Jacob deGrom has cut his iconic long hair.
It’s already the offseason for the New York Mets and their biggest storyline so far can be summed up in that old adage hair today, gone tomorrow. A pitching staff that is known just as much for their choice in hairstyle as their blistering fastballs, the unimaginable has happened in Flushing. Jacob deGrom has cut his hair.
That’s right. Jose Reyes captured the freshly cut deGrom in the Mets locker with his fresh new haircut. Many Mets fans have grown accustomed to their long-haired pitching staff and this with send some shock waves throughout the fan base. Hopefully for the New York fans who appreciate the flowing locks, Noah Syndergaard won’t follow this trend but only time will tell.

It looks like the Mets are looking for a fresh start in 2018. deGrom has a new look, Yoenis Cespedes says he will run more this off-season to avoid more hamstring injuries, and Matt Harvey will look for any answers to get back to his former Dark Knight persona. Still deGrom is the leader of a pitching staff that help propel the Mets to the 2015 World Series. If this staff can stay healthy the Mets could be back in the mix to make a return to the Fall Classic in 2018.

The 29-year-old ace of New York’s staff is coming off a career year finishing with career highs in wins, with 15, and finished with over 200 innings for the first time in his career. In four years with the Mets deGrom is 45-32 with a 2.98 ERA and 731 strikeouts.
deGrom is eligible for arbitration this offseason but is contractually under control by the New York Mets through the 2021 season.
