New York Jets Week 4 Position Report Card
By Nolan Rich
It was a mixed bag for New York’s buffet busters. On one hand, they helped the running attack to have over 250 yards rushing on the ground. The run blocking has been inconsistent so far this season, it was evident that the front line was getting a better push against Jacksonville.
Still, the offensive line was flagged for multiple false starts throughout the game and were abysmal in pass protection. The Jaguars sacked McCown five times on Sunday afternoon as New York struggled to handle one of the NFL’s best pass rushes in 2017. After this performance, there will definitely be questions about how this unit will hold up against elite pass rushes.
Consistency has been this unit’s issue the first quarter of the season. If the pass blocking is good, the run blocking has been poor and vice versa. They’ve shown they can control the line of scrimmage, but the key will be consistency over the final twelve games.
