New York Jets Week 4 Position Report Card
By Nolan Rich
Talk about a ground assault in East Rutherford on Sunday. The running backs had their break out game for the season grounding and pounding their way to 256 rushing yards. This is the most rushing yards the Jets have had since Week 13 in 2014 when then ran for 277 yards against the Dolphins.
The Jets running game averaged eight yards per carry on the day as both Bilal Powell and Elijah McGuire ripped off long runs for touchdowns. Powell ran for a 75 yard score in the first quarter while McGuire broke free for 69 yards to find the end zone for his first career score. Even if Forte can go next week, the Jets may want to ride Powell and McGuire for as long as they can. It will be interesting to see how the Jets will divide the carries next week if Forte does return.
Let’s not forget that Jets running backs also had a great day receiving with a combined six catches for 65 yards. With all the scoring coming from the running backs it’s clear that they were the team’s best unit against Jacksonville.
