New York Jets Week 3 Position Report Card
By Nolan Rich
It’s clear that New York’s most improved unit by far is the secondary. Jamal Adams and Marcus Maye look like the real deal and have been flying around the field constantly. However, it was another safety that made his mark on Sunday.
Terrence Brooks intercepted Jay Cutler twice and while Adams and Maye are the starters, he has shown he can make an impact in sub packages. Brooks’ ability in coverage could create some interesting packages for the Jets defense. The team could move Adams onto the box to act as a hybrid linebacker or shift Maye over to do more coverage in the slot. Either way, Brooks could be another vital piece increasing versatility.
Adams looks like a superstar in the making with two tackles for a loss, a sack, and an unbelievable motor that doesn’t stop. While the safeties where the stars of the of the defense today, the cornerbacks also did their part limiting the biggest pass play of the day to 26 yards.
Coming into the season this was supposed to be the biggest project for the team on defense. After three games though this unit could already be the strength of the team’s defense.
