New York Jets Week 3 Position Report Card
By Nolan Rich
After struggling over the first two games of the season the Jets defensive line looked like a dominant unit on Sunday. While the unit didn’t record a sack, they did create havoc and allow others on the defensive to provide the pressure on Jay Cutler.
It was an impressive day considering the team shut down one of the league’s best young running backs in Jay Ajayi to 18 yards on eleven carries. This is a promising sign as the defense has been gashed in the running games over the first two games of the season and struggled to contain Ajayi last season.
After being chewed out for their performance in the first two games, this unit looked to return to form especially in the run game only allowing 30 total rushing yards to the Dolphins.
The quarterback pressures by the defensive line are getting better but at least the vaunted run defense is trending in the right direction.
