WR Brandon Marshall

Remember when the New York Giants signed Brandon Marshall after the crosstown rival Jets released him? Yeah, you know how he was supposed to complete Big Blue’s wide receiving corps and make it one of the most dominant in the league?

When does the domination start??

Through two games, Marshall has secured just two of nine targets for 27 yards. Marshall also dropped a pass on Monday night that would have gone for at least 30 yards and could have changed the complexion of the drive and possibly the game.

Odell Beckham Jr. made his season debut on Monday but was not 100% healthy, coming back from his ankle injury. OBJ should be good to go in Week 3 but he could again be limited. The Giants need Brandon Marshall to be involved in the offense if they’re going to turn things around.

Due to the nature of the NFL preseason, Brandon Marshall didn’t get a lot of game reps with Eli Manning. He clearly hasn’t developed a chemistry with his quarterback yet. That chemistry takes time but the Giants don’t have much left as they risk falling to 0-3 if they can’t put points on the board this weekend.

Marshall and Manning need to get on the same page, Marshall needs to get open more often, and when he gets open and the ball is thrown his way, Brandon Marshall needs to secure the catch.

The New York Giants wide receiver corps has a ton of potential. It could end up being one of the best in the NFL. However, potential means nothing in a 16-game season. The receivers need to play better right now and it starts with Brandon Marshall stepping up in Week 3.
