LINEBACKERS

It’s never a good day for a defense when it surrenders 45 points and over 410 yards. It was a rough day for this unit as they struggled in multiple assets of the game.

Like the defensive line, the linebacking core failed to pressure Carr throughout the game and while they did limit plays to the tight end, Oakland’s running backs ate the Jets linebacking core alive in both the passing and running game.

The linebackers struggled tackling and there were a few cases where the Jets had a tackle short of the first down marker, but poor tackling allowed the Raiders to convert the first down.

It was a bad day all around for the defense, but one bright spot was Darron Lee who looked comfortable in coverage and was tied for a team high seven tackles. However, he is still being overwhelmed as an inside linebacker and needs to be moved to the outside to be more effective.
