RUNNING BACKS

After managing only 38 total rushing yards against the Bills in the first week, the running backs rebounded with 95 yards on the ground in Oakland. While it wasn’t a great day running the ball, at least this unit is now trending in the right direction.

Matt Forte showed his versatility tying for a team high four receptions while carrying the rock nine times for 53 yards. Even though it looked like Bilal Powell would be the feature back out of camp, Forte has been the more reliable option and while be the team’s number one back for the time being.

It was another frustrating for Bilal Powell with six carries for 13 yards. In fact Powell was passed over in the game for rookie Elijah McGuire who ran for 29 yards on his six touches.

This was the unit that the team needs to lean on during the season especially if they make the move to a younger quarterback. While Powell’s stock has dropped over the first two weeks, at least McGuire’s stock has risen while Forte appears to at least have some gas left in the tank.
