Josh Martin

This may be an old picture, but Josh Martin is making new impacts on his Jets team these days.

Here is a move that was made in year one of Maccagnan’s tenure. In November of 2015, Josh Martin was signed to join the Jets practice squad. He had previously spent time with the Kansas City Chiefs and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers before coming up to New York. He spent the end of 2015 on the practice squad before being active for 15 games in 2016. He was only able to manage an assist and .5 sacks for his time.

Then 2017 came around and things started to slow down for Martin. During the preseason he posted 14 total tackles and two sacks. Granted, that wasn’t always with the first team, but production is still production. This young man was all over the field and earned his way onto the roster. Against the Bills he continued that solid play with 3.5 combined tackles and .5 sacks. He was all over the field. Josh Martin is well on his way as another mid-level signing by Maccagnan that was solid.

Mike Maccagnan’s resume is far from perfect. Let’s go even further and say that questioning his ability to take a quarterback is not even unreasonable. His draft history has been up and down. But not everything he has done has been bad. If you look through his entire body of work, some of it has been quite good. Don’t back up the “Macc” truck just yet.
