The Debuts

Head Coach Sean McDermott makes his regular season head coaching debut. Defensive Coordinator Leslie Frazier will coach his first game as a member of the Bills’ staff. Same goes for Offensive Coordinator Rick Dennison.

Rookie first round pick Tre’Davious White will line up opposite the Jets’ receiving core to make his first career start at cornerback.

Zay Jones, the rookie who arguably leads the Bills receiving core, will also make his NFL regular season debut.

There are newly acquired Bills players making their debuts with Buffalo that have experience elsewhere.

The newly acquired Jordan Matthews and EJ Gaines will wear the Bills’ colors for the first time.

The same can be said for Andre Holmes, Steven Hauschka, Micah Hyde, and Jordan Poyer, amongst others.

The Others

Longtime Buffalo Bills, Kyle Williams, Eric Wood, Marcell Dareus, Preston Brown, Jerry Hughes and Cordy Glenn all return to lead Western New York’s team.

Lorenzo Alexander, LeSean McCoy, Richie Incognito, and Tyrod Taylor look to continue their journeys and cement a legacy in Buffalo.

Will Tyrod Play?

After suffering a concussion two weeks ago in the team’s third preseason game in Baltimore, the team’s starting QB has been in the concussion protocol.

However, according to multiple sources, “T-Mobile” is fully healthy and will indeed start.

The New York Jets

Starting Jets QB Josh McCown leads the charge for Gang Green.

After a plethora of injuries, Robby Anderson leads the way for the Jets wide receivers. Jeremy Kerley recently reunited with New York as well.

Matt Forte returns and he gave the Bills a tough time last year.

The Jets defense has the potential to be decent. We will find out on Sunday if they can put up a fight against the Tyrod-led offense.

Shady

LeSean McCoy continues to be, far and away, the best player on the Bills. The consistently stellar half back will obviously be the key to the Bills winning this game.

Getting Shady going early and often will spell doom for the Jets young defensive unit.

D-Line

Attacking McCown and the depleted Jets offense is the obvious key for the Bills here. Rattling the 38-year-old QB and tiring out the Jets’ O-Line could also be the key to stopping Matt Forte. Blitz. Blitz. Blitz.

Notes

More from Empire Writes Back

Tyrod Taylor plays the Jets for the first time since Week 2 of last year. Remember, the Bills benched him for the Week 17 loss last year due to Rex Ryan getting fired and his “injury clause”.

Josh McCown is 38 years old and has been in the league since 2002.

The Bills come into this game the healthiest they have been in a long time.

The Bills lead the series 60-53 all-time, including winning five of the last seven.

Also, the Bills will have to Circle the Wagons without Sammy Watkins on the roster for the first time since 2014. He was traded for EJ Gaines in the offseason.

One Bold Prediction

Tre’Davious White will have an interception in his NFL regular season debut.

For Sure

New Era Field will be ROCKING as football is back and it is a divisional game!
