Jim Kelly Leads the Charge

The cat is out of the bag. Everyone knows how close knit the 1990s Buffalo Bills AFC Championship teams were.

One of the most underrated and nostalgic moments during the drought was when Hall of Fame quarterback Jim Kelly led the charge wearing a Darryl Talley jersey.

After a feature story from the Buffalo News revealed that Talley was suffering from depression and financial burdens, Buffalo was quick to rally around him.

After a “gofund” me page ran by the fans raised over $100K, it showed how much “DT” meant to the Bills Mafia.

But on that November afternoon in 2014, seeing Jim Kelly, who has suffered personal burdens of his own and overcome a ton, come out to lead the charge for the Bills in that jersey was more than the fans and players could’ve expected.

The Bills went on to beat the lowly Browns, but there is not a doubt in my mind, even for a second, that the fans were the closest and least divided they have ever been.

The Buffalo Bills are our team and it is hard to not get chills seeing that.
